It died months ago.  One day, I might actually try to revive it.  But if I 
go near it, I'll probably find myself installing Linux on it.  It didn't 
have a CD burner on it anyway.

AFAIK, *any* ATAPI burner will work.  I certainly have never done anything 
other than bung in whatever cheap-assed generic burner I could find, and 
voila!  Let me check on the docu...

   USB CD-writers currently not supported... Safe to assume that most 
   newer IDE/ATAPI and SCSI burners work... 

I'd try it, if I was you.
