I have a dead DiamondMax Plus 9 (80GB) sitting right here. It (and the PC power
supply) died when I touched the computer case and discharged static
electricity. With a "pop" the computer turned off and wouldn't turn back on.
Replacing the power supply allowed it to boot again, but the Maxtor was dead.
Funny enough, the primary hard disk in the system (a Quantum Fireball) was just
fine. <shrug>
