I suppose it depends on whose "standard" you're talking about, for PC class hardware I believe it started out with 83 keys, then they brought out the "AT-style" keyboard (with an XT/AT switch on the bottom) that had 87 keys, and finally settled on the "standard" 101-key keyboard that included a numeric keypad *and* a navigation cluster.
