Nothing new or unusual here.  Hams provide emergency comms. during 
disasters every time a hurricane passes through this area, and they've 
been doing it for *ever*.

Which is why the governments around the world can't wait to take away 
their frequency allocations and sell them to broadcasters, cellphone 
makers, and the wireless network people...  :-/
