Great, You can find J-Pole antenna dimension calculators on the web that will give you exact build dimensions for the frequency you want to operate on. You couldn't consider one for HF because of size but they do great for VHF and UHF. Very easy to build and offer comperable performance to commercial verticals (I think). On the type I have built (1/2" copper pipe) the biggest problem is making a strong/weather proof connection across the J. This may be an advantage to building one like Angus mentioned. I honestly think if you build one, especially if you can pick up the materials cheaply you won't be disapointed. There are also plans on the web to build these out of 400 hom ladder line. I've never built one of these but I'm told they work well also. Good luck. they work. --- þ Synchronet þ The Dark Castle BBS - thedarkcastle.net - Elkhorn City,KY SysOp: Frank .
