Uh, no.  I think 300 baud is the max, and actual throughput can often 
hover around 5 (five) baud for days on end.  Higher rates need more 
bandwidth.  VHF, UHF, etc.

PACSATs are fun, and if you can find a suitable TNC for only a few dollars 
more, why not?  But don't put big bux down unless you intend to become 
seriously involved.
