One way to start is to get the "Now You're Talking" book from the ARRL.
Once you have that, study, study, study.
Then use the web to find a ham radio club in your area.
Once you do that, they can help you find VECS to give you the exam.
Once you do that and pass, it will take about a week or two to
process your license.
