Subj : Morning To : All From : Emptymind Date : Wed Oct 20 2004 10:55 pm Well I was looking over the old hobbies list, and looked up BBS's. Wow how things have changed over the past 10 years. Then I look, and find that the BBS system has a newsgroup interface for reading the message bases. Where was this stuff 10 years ago when i was forking out 400$ for a 14Kbps modem!! let alone the 300bps one i started with about 15 - 20 years ago. So i hook into the nntp feed.. and find that my 3 biggest hobbies.. Internet (Im a Sysadmin), the BBS, and HAM radio.. all in one married state.. I think I am about to cry in happiness.. (my wife reading over my shoulder states 'you are offically a geek' to which i reply.. 'duh') Hopefully I will get a copy of the bbs running, (the linux install is not quite as straight forward as the windows version it would appear) and I can imagine that it wont be long before I try connecting to the system over a MixW2 IP radio link.. hmmmm.. gonna need a new HF antenna i think.. hehehehe.. 73's James - VA7MTY Hmm.. had to log INTO the bbs to post his but hey.. is NNTP just not postable? or did i miss something? .
