Didahdit! Didaaaaaahhhhdit! > > > > while stareing significantly at her loins...... > > F B R R? I must have missed something. FB R R. FB = standard, well known and well understood amateur CW abbreviation that derives from the phrase "Fine Business". Anything that is good is Fine Business. R = standard, well known and well understood amateur CW abbreviation that means "Roger". Actually, the "R" isn't short for "Roger", it's the other way around. Long before people began _talking_ over radio, "R" was used as a positive acknowledgement. (Also "C" meaning "Correct", or "yes" but that is usually only used in rsponse to a direct question.) When people started using voice, the old CW "R" was called "Roger" (and "C" became "Charlie") as the remainder of the alphabet were also given phonetic names of some sort. The drawn out "R" as in "Didaaaaaahhhhdit" is a CWer's way of emphasising the word/phrase. On voice you might say "big Roger" although that is somewhat of a CBer scheme. A ham might just say "Roooooooger". Since you don't appear familiar with CW, let me just tell you that CW operators don't spell out everything in plain english. They are sensibly lazy and abbreviate like crazy -- usually in ways that only make sense when you compare the length of the morse letters involved. For example, the word "Please" becomes "PSE" (not "PLS" because "L" is NINE times longer than "E"). There are a large number of abbreviations that a Google search might find, but here are a few: AGN - Again BCNU - Be seeing you DR - Dear ES - And EU - Europe FER - For GA - Go ahead GB - Good bye/God Bless GE - Good Evening GG - Going HPE - Hope HW - How MNI - Many NW - Now OC - Old chap RC - Ragchew (casual conversation) SN - Soon TKS - Thanks TMW - Tomorrow VY - Very There are hundreds and hundreds more, but I hope you get the picture.
