Bin Laden thing should have been finished before Iraq started. > That was his decision to do that. Here's why: The war in Afghanistan (initiated to 'get' Bin Laden and bring him to justice) was proving, in less than six months, to be a complete failure. Day after day, CNN showed high-precision, laser-guided missiles and bombs slamming into large piles of rocks. The BEFORE photos looked exactly like the AFTER photos, and the voters were beginning to say "WTF are we DOING over there?" A good news day was when a US helicopter went down due to bad maintainance killing all hands, or when an anti- personnel bomb was accidentally fired at a house, killing the bride, the bride and grooms mothers, and twenty bridesmaids and flower-girls. With an election looming in the not-too-distant future, the Commander in Chief needed a public, military success. Needed to stop appearing on TV as a tremendous failure, at this time of heightened public awareness to foreign policy issues. To divert the people from the absolute failure that was the Afghanistan/Get-OBL campaign, to something else that the gullible fools would accept as a surrogate. Whoever thought of it, I have to say they deserve some credit -- personally, I'd never have thought the American public was fundamentally DUMB enough to fall for it! So we suddenly change our "War against Osama" PR campaign to a "War against Terrorism" campaign, and look for a softer, more winnable target to attack. Do we pick Libya? Syria? *ANY* of the countries that are known to support hundreds of terrorist training camps, year round? No! We pick Iraq! The *ONE* country in the middle-east that has always been known to have *NO* terrorists. *NO* training camps. *NO* tolerance for terrorists. We pick Iraq because i) we can manufacture some documentary rubbish about WMD and the stupid electorate will buy it, and ii) we know that their military got pounded into scrap only ten years ago and has never recovered since, and iii) our forces have recent experience of operating in/over that terrain, and iv) nobody will ever miss Sadam Hussein when we chuck him out, and v) oh yeah, there's a ton of cash to be made raping the oil reserves of the country. The primary reason for the war on Iraq was/is to distract from the fact that the war on Afghanistan was a joke, and that Osama bin Laden is still on the loose, and no closer to being aprehended than on 11th September 2001. --- þ Synchronet þ Generated automatically on The ANJO BBS .
