He probably said that they would be impacted and crowd the rest of the teeth. I
had the two on the left side of my mouth removed back in the early 90s, the
other two on the right are still there.

Usually if your mouth is already crowded, wisdom teeth cause havoc on the rest,
and usually since people don't floss or brush well, the wisdom teeth are
ususally the worst taken care of and they need to come out anyhow.
