Well that's ok I wanted to > be a sysop just so I could look at it from the business end, but I had > been a user for a couple of years prior to that. > You're right.. I was one of those kids who was active in BBSes from 7th grade through college, and I ran several over the years with other friends my age. Back then I had a group of folks from both my school and surrounding schools who all helped one another out, plus we had our 'adult contacts' who hooked us up with hardware and software. Now it does seem to be more old school sysops and BBS users doing BBSes. Is anyone on here new to BBSes totally? I could totally see BBSes becoming a sub culture of the Internet since it's non-mainstream. By non-mainstream I'm talking about you can search Google and pick-up the files or messages on BBSes unless they've been ported to to the web or newsgroups somehow. I'm surprised more 'leet' groups aren't flocking to this type of media... I mean no way for the FCC, RIAA, etc to track downloads from BBSes. I'm not a software or music pirate by any means, but I do plan on adding much of my personal fave music and software to my BBS for me to pull off whenever needed and to share with others.
