Subj : Rita Cleanup To : All From : Sam Alexander Date : Mon Sep 26 2005 11:41 am Hey Guys -- I just talked to my brother, and he and I are heading to Southeast Texas to help family with cleanup this Friday through Sunday. The family down there lost the roof on one house, a tree fell on another garage crushing the family car, and every family member down there has damage of some kind. ALso they're saying weeks before power or water is restored. They live in Silsbee, which is about 20 miles from Beaumont. Here's an article I found talking about the state of the town: http://www.sacbee.com/content/news/story/13617428p-14459494c.html We'll be taking a tent, plenty of water, enough gas so we don't need to fill-up (it's about 500 miles roundtrip from Waco), food, camping gear, etc. They're bringing my great-grandmother (98 yo) to Silsbee to stay with my mom since the heat is too unbearable for her. Any thoughts on other stuff to take? THis is my home town, so I'm really not looking forward to seeing it like this. I'll also take some pictures while there. It's a crazy world we live in...
