Subj : SyncTERM fo OS X To : All From : Deuce Date : Thu Sep 22 2005 11:30 pm Well, I've gotten around to ironing a couple kinks out of the X11 support for OSX... it's not PERFECT, but it works for me (see notes following) to run it: 1) Download it from http://syncterm.bbsdev.net/syncterm-osx.gz 2) If your browser autoextracts it, good... if not, extract it. Take note of where it's located. 3) Start X11... I do this by running terminal then entering the command "setenv PATH ${PATH}:/usr/X11R6/bin" followed by the "startx" command. I'm sure there's a Better Way... someone please tell me. :-) 4) From the xterm that fires up, change to the directory which holds syncterm-osx (On my system, downloads go to the desktop which means the command "cd ~/Desktop" gets me there. 5) Run the command "./syncterm-osx" This *should* open up another window and away you go. I haven't found out what if anything maps to the Mod1 X11 key (ALT on PCs) under OSX, so I don't know how to bring up the menu, initiate file transfers etc. If you figure out what along with the Z key brings up the menu, PLEASE TELL ME. There must be *some* way of starting a copy of X11 along with an X11 program... I don't know what it is, but it must exist. Someone could help me out here too. ANSI music doesn't yet work... this DEFINATELY will need some special Mac magic. I'll get to it someday... just not right now. So, please fiddle with it, tell me of your problems, tell me of your successes. --- þ Synchronet þ ``Penguins make tasty snacks'' .
