While the unbudgetted expenditures in Iraq are large they are only about 50% of the shortfall. Yes reducing that item or eliminting it all together would go along way to easing the tax burden. It seems short-sitedness in regards to in-border expenditures have fallen thru the cracks also. We are not getting our money's worth. But rather than fixing the problem many folks would rather bury their heads in the sand and pretend that everything is alright, when it's not. The interest on the deficet is not a small number either. President Clinton handed over a surplus and it was pocketed almost immediately by the top teir of wage earners... wait, that's not right wage earners make no where near the tops in our society... Anyway it's gone now and we have a budget that is in shambles and a bunch of hyenias liking their chops at the rest. Interest, this year alone is $ 335,528,344,667 I believe this is more than all of the give aways or entitlements combined. http://www.federalbudget.com/ This guy makes his case for continuing the national debt... look for 'My presntation' link.
