Agreed, but they're not going to get any cheaper just because someone else
would be paying your bill.  So, let's take some concrete steps to reduce the
operating costs and create competition.  Trying to pass that buck to the
federal government would only create enormous overhead, gross mismanagement
and, ultimately, skyrocketing costs.  Believe me, you'd ultimately be paying
far more than the $300/month out of your taxes for much crappier service.
