Sure.  In a shell script or directly at the interactive shell-prompt.  (I 
find the former more useful than the latter.)

Uhm... You can use heredocs in Perl as well.  IIRC, there is some minor 
difference in how they are implemented.  Something to do with how they 
handle leading whitespace in the heredoc?  I can't remember exactly.  
Perhaps someone with the info at their fingertips will post it?  Otherwise 
I'll have to do some investigating....
