I was sorta hoping he'd send me a free copy, but not so far. :-) that would be a noble thing to do, but i wouldn't hold my breath. > > Jason Scott tried to cover the big bullet points, but he missed out on al > > of it. > I don't know how much of his interview with me was included, but I was rathe > disappointed as Scott was extremely tired at the time and was having > difficulting asking interesting (and relevant) questions. Also, I found Scot > experience with and opinion of the BBS history/scene was fairly limited to h > personal experiences (which apparently did not include any Synchronet system yeah i think you told me that he showed up way late at night or something. the guy (jason scott) probably got lost or something. anyway, he is by no means an expert, and i don't think he ever really tried to make himself see that way, in the bbs world. in fact, up until this documentary i had not even seen him relate with the bbs scene in any manner with the exception of hosting textfiles.com ... so go figure that.. i was approached to be in the film but i declined because i felt that what he was doing was exploiting something i loved and trying to turn a profit on it, etc. i am kind of disappointed in my decision because i missed my 5 minutes of fame ;P but oh well. i was only going to be in the art scene/underground parts anyway. yeah i was shocked that he didn't cover more of the struggle you guys had with the commercialization of the bbs softwares.. like we all know synch used to be a pay software, but what we didn't hear about was how difficult it was to get any kind of recognition in the big time at the conventions, etc. i think you had mentioned that it was almost like a crooked thing since the guy who ran boardwatch and that other software were in cahoots and made the convention etc.. > > Rob, why didn't you appear in the "Death of the BBS" section? > I wasn't involved in the editing (obviously). :-) did you guys discuss any of that stuff when he interviewed you? > > Anyway, everyone should watch it. I would say that at the very least, it' > > neat to see the guy who made zmodem, and qwk, and even synchronet.. :) > Yeah, I'm curious what Wayne Bell is like. I think I already have a pretty g > idea what Chuck Forsberg (Ymodem/Zmodem) is like (ugh). they were interesting characters :) too much emphasis/attention was paid to fidonet and boardwatch guy. it was very biased. - grymmjack .
