SYL is the angry, pre-meds Devin. Post-meds, he has several side
projects with different names, players and sounds. Devin Townsend
Band, Ocean Machine, Infinity.

I saw SYL last year in a small club and he rocked. It's great
listening to music with a following. On most songs, everyone was
singing along.

The club was in a sketchy part of town, and I didn't want to drive my
brand new car. A friend of mine drove in his beater. I realized I'd
left my drivers license in my car. At the will call window, the noise
was so high that I had to show my Costco card to let him know my name.
I got my tickets, went to walk inside, and the bouncer asked me for
ID. I said I left mine at home, but I wasn't planning on drinking
anyway. I take a step in the club, and feel the bouncer pull me back
outside. He cups his hands around his mouth, and yelling at the top of
his lungs asks "WHO! PLAYED! THE! BEAVER!!!"

I screamed back "Jerry Mathers!"

"NO TWENTY YEAR OLD COULD KNOW THAT!" he stamped my hand and passed me
through.
