I pointed out that your statement was wrong, and then you > made a narrow definition of what you defined as communist. And your point > wasn't about soviet communism. We were discussing the Cold War between the U.S. and Soviet Union which, as I'm sure you know, was a struggle between democracy/capitalism endorsed by the U.S. and communism endorsed by the U.S.S.R. Although China's version of communism had its roots in the same Marx, Lenin (and Zedong) principles, most would argue that they diverged shortly after inception (if not entirely when Den Xiaoping took over in the 70s). This was probably mostly the differences in geography and society, where China didn't have the dense urban areas the U.S.S.R. had. Today, with China a "most-favored" trading partner of the U.S., and with a huge amount of their economy vested in the private business sector, along with their equally huge investments in foreign interests, I think it would be very hard to qualify their government as communist as originally envisioned. --- þ Synchronet þ BBS Doors (www.bbsdoors.com) .
