No, I come from a belief that differing opinions not only reflect human
nature itself, but also ensure that a free society continually respects
the values that form the basis of individual rights.  The ability to
express a differing opinion also ensures the diversity to adapt as our
world around us and even social mores themselves change.  Ultimately,
we'll find ourselves somewhere in the middle, very near the 51/49% line
which moves much more slowly, but it's the opinions on the extremes that
keep us on that keel.
