I mean that while I know what plain old defeatism isn, I'm unsure of what the
"leftist" modifier brings to the party.  I'm sure of course that "infinate bowl
of" is just synatix sugar... if not, I'd like to be enlightened as to the
meaning of that also.

That region has been unstable for centuries and has not improved one whit since
your arrival.  If you can seriously belive that the US will bring stability to
the region in less than 50 years I'd be fascinated by your explination of a
propsed mechanism.
