In exchange for a box of shiny medals, colored ribbons and a folded
flag, I subjected my wife and children to more than twenty years of life
at near-poverty levels while I suffered through every cesspool from
Panama to Beirut in order to establish America as the world's dominant
political, economic and military super-power.  When I became too broken
to continue, and I was put to pasture with a meager stipend and a small
compensation for my disabling injuries, I joined with a small group of
people where, for ten years, I have designed, tested and installed
modern command and control systems that provide an even greater
competitive advantage to our younger generation of American soldiers as
they continue to fight present and future battles in many of these same
shitholes.

I did it all so ingrateful pissants are ensured the freedom to mock
America and embarrass our nation on broadcast television without fear of
a jackboot landing on their throat or going "missing" in the night.  And
I'd do it again without hesitation, if they'd let me.  Does that pass
muster for the "voir dire" of your questioning?

If the war goes on forever, we support our troops forever.  If you want
to stop the war, use the political process and vote.  Based solely on my
layman's assessment, I'd say you have a snowball's chance in hell of
dissuading the incumbent administration from staying the course.  And,
frankly, I'd be quite surprised if a prospective replacement emerged who
was willing to leave the region in that turmoil, either... But good luck
finding one.
