It is American occupation forces that have armed the Islamic extremists and continue to train them in the use of these arms. And if I remember correctly, the "radical few" in question nuimber more than 65% of the total population. > How long before we'd be back to cauterize the festering sore that > would infect every surrounding nation and beyond? Shoot, you're not even OUT yet and you're already plannimg to go back? > What's the exit strategy? There isn't one that will satisfy you. No matter how long you wait, no matter what you do, when you eventually leave, the Shi'ites will over throw your puppet government and replace it with a fundamentalist theocracy. Then will come unity with Iran, forming the largest single muslim political bloc in the middle east, with a longing for Mecca and Medina, and a thirst for Israeli blood. The rest of the middle eastern states will not last long after that. The sensible "exit strategy" would have been not to poke a stick at this particular nest of ants in the FIRST place. Now, the only reasonable exit strategy left is to get your people home as soon as possible, with the minimum American fatalities. The middle-eastern blood-bath has already been drawn by the cluelessness of your political leadership, and their inability to see the geo-political realities written in the history of that region. You've got a tiger by the tail. It's going to be interesting to watch, when you finally let him go! --- þ Synchronet þ Debatable wisdom from The ANJO BBS .
