  He's gonna free the oppressed negroes in the South now, too.  Homesteadin'
all the federally-owned land down there so people can come back as homeowners
rather than renters.  "Including minorities", he said, too, which made me
choke on my coffee since needing to express the thought rather obviated OTHER
thoughts that were associated with it.

  So GWB becomes a hero.  Generically offering to spend whatever it takes (I
think he said something about $200 bil somewhere in the speech, for starters)
to give away all the governmentally-owned contaminated swamp land ('cause
there's really not much federally-owned land down there at all) that used
to be N.O. and vicinity to the negroes.

  Whattaguy.

  Don't get me wrong, though.  I'm sure he's pulling out all the stops,
doing his level best to come up with things to say to inspire and heal, etc.

  It's just too bad the well of his mind has been empty for decades, or the
spirit of his intentions might actually generate something NotStupid (like
the debit-card thing).
