  That's actually a very scary thought.  Assume for the sake of argument that
the death penalty's every bit as much of a deterrent that it's alleged to be.

  Imagine what a cultural cess-pool Texas would be, then, without it.  

  I mean, if it's REALLY working, what kind of sub-society is being checked in
that state?
