There is anonymous loyalty and there is supporting loyalty. Let's try this, If someone asks a lady her age she might reply with a flattering answer. She lied but we understand (sort of) that women do this sort of thing. Same hold true for men (well some men, many don't find themselves in the situation). They will deny (or brag) about sexual unions with women. So mostly we understand and either avoid the question or discount the answer. Clinton is married, a public figure, he was embarrassed at being found out. It happens, it's a human reaction.
