Yes, that was my original point, what I mean is that plastics are generally
make from alkenes were are generally not present in crude at all... when
alkanes are still used as a fuel additive... it's the "regular" alkenes that
are used for plastic.  And they are made from the larger molecules... such as
lubricating oils, bitumen etc.
