I hadn't fooled with a BBS since the mid 80s so I missed the whole PC bbs explosion that was under way at that time and boomed after I quit. I had been wanting to get back in for some time. Some friends and I talked a lot over the past winter how it would be cool to put a BBS back up mainly because winter closes you in and it would be cool to fool with again. I bought a copy of PC Board off ebay and while reading up on it I found Synchronet. I tossed the PC Board software off to the side and never looked back. Synchronet may be easy to install but to get it working up to all it's capabilities is over my head. I run the telnet 16 bit side of it and a HTML server on another machine to hand off to it. This is partly because I'm so weak on the new stuff and the 32 bit side of Synchronet steps into the internet world and I don't care for the snooping hack attempts I get when I run it. Of ALL the time I have been on the internet, IT HAS NEVER came close to the enjoyment we had on our old computers and a BBS with 2400 baud modems. Syncronet and Dove-Net are performing two important functions as I see it. Helping SysOps who have been hanging on for a very long time keep interest and giving old SysOp a chance to get back in. If you care anything about BBSing, How can you find fault with this? --- þ Synchronet þ The Dark Castle BBS - thedarkcastle.net - Elkhorn City,KY SysOp: Frank .
