not talking about ads.. in the qwk settings for each base you have options for 
ctrl-a codes (leave, strip, expand to ansi)  it looks like they're set to 
expand to ansi, or your editor ads them in for the "This is something 
about"... in the quoted text, that has ansi sequences... I didn't realize the 
message I replied to was an ad...
