Subj : [C] Server problems To : All From : Bob Stout Date : Mon Jun 14 2004 01:55 am From: Bob Stout My apologies to all. Unbeknownst to me, the ISP where the server is colocated planned a move this weekend without telling me. The first thing that happened is that the SNIPPETS.ORG and all other domains became unavailable on Friday evening. Then the server developed a problem when it was physically moved and Jon had to go help fix it. This was an extra nuisance since the ISP is all the way across town (in Houston, this means about 90 miles away) from me. Fortunately, Jon lives about halfway between and was able and willing to make the pilgrimage. Finally, the IP number changed so we had to go in and change the DNS entries. Just so it doesn't come as a surprise next time, I'm also planning a server hardware update sometime in the (hopefully) near future, which will entail another outage - albeit hopefully shorter and better planned. Actually, one of the most annoying things about this weekend is that I knew that this was coming sometime, just not when. Had I been given sufficient advance warning, we could have changed out the hardware at the same time and treated it a scheduled maintenance rather than a crisis. Again, apologies for the inconvenience! ------------------------------------------------------------- Consulting: http://www.MicroFirm.biz/ Web graphics development: http://Image-Magicians.com/ Software archives: http://snippets.snippets.org/ c.snippets.org/ cpp.snippets.org/ java.snippets.org/ d.snippets.org/ python.snippets.org/ perl.snippets.org/ dos.snippets.org/ embedded.snippets.org/ apps.snippets.org/ Audio and loudspeaker design: http://LDSG.snippets.org/ http://www.diyspeakers.net/ --- BBBS/LiI v4.01 Flag-5 * Origin: Prism's_Point (1:261/38.1) .
