True, but Google typically updates with new posts only every several hours.
It's wonderful for searching newsgroup archives, but leaves a lot to be desired
for participation in current discussions.

Try www.mailgate.org for a web-based newsreader. After you've signed up (free),
you can use your own newsreader with the newsreader.mailgate.org server.

Chuck Falconer's advice to find a new ISP sounds pretty reasonable too.

My own ISP has been claiming hardware problems and I'm getting pretty disgusted
with that, but I'm already paid up for the next several months, and using
newsreader.mailgate.org seems to work better than using my ISP's news server
did anyway.
