Chuck Falconer's advice to find a new ISP sounds pretty reasonable too. My own ISP has been claiming hardware problems and I'm getting pretty disgusted with that, but I'm already paid up for the next several months, and using newsreader.mailgate.org seems to work better than using my ISP's news server did anyway.
