In fact, SWITCH is the better alternative - you have no limit of choices, unless you need values within specific ranges to be handled alike. To use SWITCH (or IF/IFF) it is not necessary to convert the numbers as long as they are always represented with the same number of leading 0s - they can be compared perfectly well as strings. While the string comparison is infinitesimally slower than the numeric comparison, the conversion will eat up the time difference, so I would just use the raw strings. -- E. S.
