There's no seperate listing in the nodelist for the gateway so there's no way 
you could have know. ;-)

It can lead to unpredictable results at best. :-(

No, you shouldn't need to. Just make sure you have backed up anything you want 
to keep on the OS/2 system partitiion then boot from the Installation floppy. 
IIRC, you have to choose the Advanced Installation in order to get the option 
to select the installation partition. Run that to make sure it's using the 
right one, then select the option to format the partition when it asks you.

That should give you a nice, clean install. :-)
