Not my opinion, why do you say it is? Take MSDOS installation disks and install it. Delete command.com and reboot the computer and see what happpens. The computer hangs and reports that a part of DOS is missing. That's because it is! That proves that command.com is an integral part of DOS. ^^^^^^^^^^^ Just because you can replace part of the OS you think the replaced part is not a part of the OS. This is illogical. If you remove the engine from a car, the car will not run. The engine is not the car, but an integral part of the car. Because you can replace the engine does not mean the engine is not an integral part of the car, the car won't run without it. So, DOS is the car and command.com is the engine. You might say a car without an engine is still a car, however, an OS is not a physical object like a car, but is defined by its function. There is no DOS if it doesn't function; no command interpreter, no DOS. Remember, if you change the engine with a different one, the car will not be the same car, especially if you put in a more powerful engine. You have changed the structure and behavior. All warranties will be null and void. No longer the same car - and as applied to as OS, it is no longer MSDOS without the original engine or command.com. You are entitled to your own opinions, but not your own facts. A little common sense goes a lot further than turning to "authorities" and relying on other people's opinions. "Think for yourself, form your own opinions", is my motto. -- -- |Fidonet: Outsider 1:342/3 | | Origin: The Cereal Port BBS (603)899-3335 199.125.78.133 (1:132/152) --- # Origin: (1:132/152.4) * Origin: Baddog BBS (1:218/903) .
