Oh, right. I don't remember the message before I got 4dos, but I'll bet that is because I got Dos6 after I had NDos. It's a change from dos5 to dos6. > You can still use it, of course; but >you may find it more convenient to simply use the internal COPY >command instead. >>In Dos6/4dos, when I type Help and I get the 4dos Help, I can click on >>"External (dos) Help" or F4 and I get dos6 help. >> >>But in dos7(win98), I get 'not found' or something. Well it's probably better than nothing> :) Well, I don't know which .cab file it is in, and it will be easier to do this when I'm in win98. OTOH if you are sure there is no change, since I'm already calling help.com from dos6 (dos6.22), maybe I can just put copies of the other two files in the COMMAND subdirectory. >>I've noticed that one can start 4dos.com from dos7 or dos6, and one >>can start command.com for dos7 when in 4dos. Well, I thought I had the right version of command.com in the C:\ directory, but a week ago, doing something else, I found I didn't, so I copied it over from the dos6 directory. But it doesn't seem to have taken. Dang. Copying it over again made it work. Thanks. However, next step. If I go to the dos5 directory and enter "command", it still says "incorrect dos version". Admittedly, when I do "ver" it gives the version of both 4dos and dos. But how does it know what version of dos to say? Sure the dos6 directory is in the path, and I've used some dos6 commands, but in what way am I running version 6 of Dos? Is it just that I've used some commands like smartdrv, himem, and emm386? meirman@QQQerols.com If you email me, please let me know whether remove the QQQ or not you are posting the same letter. -- |Fidonet: meirman 1:342/3 | | Origin: The Cereal Port BBS (603)899-3335 199.125.78.133 (1:132/152) --- # Origin: (1:132/152.4) * Origin: Baddog BBS (1:218/903) .
