I have lost the original reason for wanting to detect having a ramdisk 
installed.  Those suggesting the mem command output caused me to think of 
syscap.  This is a utility which captures in a text file the boot up 
information as it appears on screen.  All ramdrives I have seen have some 
output when it is installed.  One could query the text file for certain 
strings.  In mine for example,

"BITDISK 1.1 RAM-Disk installed on F:"
