Now make it guarantee a specific order of the year, month, and day; and when 
you have done that make it list them in a different order.

The third 4NT example that I gave was one line long whilst _still_ retaining 
the flexibility that your above one-liner does not have. Consider both

        MD %_MONTH%!%_YEAR%!%_DAY%

which shows how simple it is to play musical chairs with the fields if one 
wants to, and

        MD /S %_YEAR%\%_MONTH%\%_DAY%

which shows how simple it is to create a hierarchy of directories.
