No, all it proves is that Microsoft wants you to think that command.com is
an essential part of ms-dos.

If part of something is replaced the replacement part becomes part of
the thing. - is that what you're trying to say ...

hang, on! weren't you just saying that if part of something is replaced the
replacement part becomes part of the thing, so I guess by that logic
4DOS becomes a part of MS-DOS not the other way around...

There's gotta be some examples of supporting modified versions out there,
especially in the open source world. (but I reckon you're mostly right)
