Aliases are not controllable. The newsgroup side of the conference is not bound by the same rules that apply to Fidonet-only echoes. That's the price Fidonet has to pay in order to continue to have access to the support for 4DOS that resides to a large extent on the internet side of the gate. If having real names is more important than 4DOS content (and this would appear to be the case, judging by the rising noise level of late), then I will happily close the gate and the Fidonetters can discover for themselves how truly alone they really are.
