Sorry for the delay in answering your post, but my uplink was out
of town for the holidays and his "Autopilot" malfunctioned....

Yes, I realize that your fingers "slipped" with FFINF; and yes, I
did check my 4DOS (version 6.02B) help file for FFIND, but did
not locate a /F switch, and that was why I was presuming it to be
a version 7.0 switch....

      FFIND /k/m/r/t"RTime" C:\Fd\FD.LOG > %ramd%:\time.dat
      FFIND /k/m/r/t"LTime" C:\Fd\FD.LOG >> %ramd%:\time.dat

is finding the information that I'm seeking, taking the info from
a _large_ file (C:\Fd\FD.LOG) and placing it in a _smaller_,
temporary file on my RamDisk (E:\TIME.DAT)....

Could you please provide a hint of how I might parse out the
needed values?

I was thinking it might be something along the line of:

  set rt=%@time[@word[@instr[31,8,RTime]]]
  set lt=%@time[@word[@instr[31,8,LTime]]]

but the variables do not appear... ???
