You're right it's a problem that shows up in a regular dos-box under Windows XP 
and NTFS.
When the DIR command is executed using the dos directory name for instance dir 
c:\docume~1 than the files are listed

But 4dos shows the full length of the directory name as the prompt c:\documents 
and settings>
When the dir command is given under 4dos.com than an error occurs (file not 
found).
When the dir command is preceeded by the DOS-name of the directory (dir 
c:\docume~1) than the files are listed as normal.
