The it looks from here, the area *isn't* still going if you assume that *going* implies that people are posting messages here. I had my few little problems with Fidonet Point software but nothing beyond that. My preparations for y2k, excluding getting patches for Point programs, consisted of planning to draw some jugs of water. At the last minute, I forgot to do that. I already had blankets, canned and frozen foods. candles, kerosene, a heater, and lamps so I figured I could muddle through a brief spell of whatever glitches might come along. I thought it was rather nice that the changeover was made in a relatively uneventful manner. I don't really see a basis for flames in Melvin Aching's message. One way of looking at it, y2k was a big joke. OTOH, a lot of people spent a lot of money on items they didn't need.
