Tuesday May 23 2000 at 18:28 GILLES BEAUREGARD >> ALL GB> ----- FIDOY2K.TXT begins ----- GB> Y2K INFORMATION FOR FIDONET SYSOPS GB> ================================== === CUT === This is just a few comments from me - FWIW Your list is very informative - thanks for it :-) However - this point here I don't understand .... GB> OPERATING SYSTEMS GB> ================= GB> DR-DOS ------ YES I'm using DR-DOS 7.03 .... does the "YES" mean there are problems with that OS? If so I haven't seen any. None at all! GB> XLAX ----- YES I use XLAXDIFF version 2.57 - dated 29/4-1994. Again - does the "YES" mean there is problems - or on the contrary that it's OK? It works perfect here - no errors whatsoever. GB> FRONTDOOR ------- YES (version 2.26 required) I use 2.26 - it works perfectly - no errors whatsoever. GB> FMAIL ----- YES (Version 1.48 and above) I use FMAIL 1.48b - earlier versions had some errors - 1.48b no errors whatsoever. GB> PKZIP ----------- (Version 2.50) Version 2.50 ?????????? I thought we still had version 2.04g as the last released version ?????????????? GB> XROBOT ---------- YES (4.10) Works perfectly - no errors. GB> GOLDED ------ UNKNOWN A few years ago Golded's original author stopped working with it. The sourcecode has been released to an "open domain" - I think it was called - for anybody that would and could work with it make their own private versions of GoldEd - free for others to use, if they released it. I still use the ORIGINAL GoldEd - version 3.0.0 bea 5 - which was the very last GoldEd that GoldEd's author Odinn Sorensen released from his BBS (now closed). I can tell you that this version 3.0.0 beta 5 works without any errors - at least here - no errors whatsoever. Or maybe I should say I can't find any. GoldEd is however not an easy program to setup - but once done it is nothing less than simply perfect. __________________________________ When I write "no errors" I mean in the way the programs work. I am not referring to any options that are not there or should've been there - only to the programs and their options as they are. With the programs I use I haven't seen any errors - and it is the same programs that has been used since august 1999 and until now - which means no Y2K bugs. (Ppphhheeeeewwww ) The other programs you have mentioned I have no knowledge about. * StarFleet * Live long and prosper! ........... Hailing frequencies closed!
