Kids who were born in the late 1980s and MA> 1990s will never relate to any year beginning with "19".... it will only MA> occur to them that this is the stuff you only read about in dusty old MA> history books much like how many of us who grew up in the 60s and 70s MA> regard the last century.... 1800s... Or those of us who grew up in the '40s and '50s that can remember as far back as late in WWII. For instance, the Cuban missle crisis is something that you remember only from the history books, but I lived just outside Washingtion D.C., and can remember that people were building bomb shelters and talking about what would happen if/when the Ruskies dropped "THE BOMB" on us. (And movies like, "How I quit worrying and learned to love the bomb.") MW> dont get me started on kids. :) at my last job, we had a junior high MW> history teacher who worked part time. he brought in one of the new MW> history text books that the school distict had just received. for the MW> korean war time period, half of the pictures were stills from M*A*S*H. That's probably what they had the biggest supply of, but I would hardly call M*A*S*H typical of the Korean war, let alone the pictures from the series. I have heard, though, that there was a lot of truth in many of the situations and personalities portrayed in that series, like the doctor that thinks the whole thing is an abomination, the head nurse who denies that she's also an attractive woman, (but has a romance with a married doctor). A real-life Klinger would probably have spent his time in a stockade, but the Army did, (and does), have it's share of misfits. Catch you later... Season's Greetings to all! Ivy ....
