The strike never happened, but at -> MA> least it got some people to prepare for any possible Y2K -> MA> scenario. -> Yep. Stuff like that can get people thinking and preparing for -> a variety of eventualities. I honestly think the scare of the Y2K issue is a little to the extreme... Not all systems store information using a date format. I can tell you that some aircraft systems do, as well as possible electricty providing companies, banks, etc, however... for the most part, people are going to be OK.... Additionally, the MOST important issue was just re-engineering the system to look at a 4-digit year instead of a 2-digit year. Most newer systems since like 1991 or 1992 look at a 4 digit year instead of 2-digits; however, most companies that are in the "MAJOR" frenzy to get Y2K compliant are companies that are using hardware/software dated back to the "Stone Ages" which was the major problem. Now, the programmers of those applications are either no longer with us, or have moved on, and new programmers are having to learn the code and re-engineer it... it's not that difficult however... At least that is my opinion. I have helped with 2 major bank Y2K programs as well as my local University... We're not going to have any problems out of those 3 I can guarantee :) Thanks, Chris Cranford chris.cranford@tkdsoftware.com +-----------------------------------------------------------+ | TKD Software, Inc. www.tkdsoftware.com | | Home to Bank Professional 2000, Client Choice 99, & many | | newly developed WINS 3rd Party applications.
