QNH is important for landing , especially during IMC. you have no idea how close you're above the obstructions. so you must use correct QNH for your altimeters. and the wind direction reported by ATIS or the tower, both used for general references only. the pilots have to determine it by themselves. the have air data computer , and the have eyes, experiences...etc. so they know how the aircraft is drafting, floating... about the crosswind condition in Taiwan, especially in KHH Int'l, always cross wind or tail wind, so pilots must use good judgements and good techniques to land the aircraft. the landing is soft or hard, depends on the sink rate... showed by the VSI (Vertical Speed Indicator). Pilots can judge the sink rate by that instrument or they can visually observe the rate of the runway raising= sink rate of the aircraft to make a soft touch to the land. about the cross wind, wind correction landing, the aeileron into the wind and opposite runnder just before touch down to correct the nose line up parallel with the runway heading.
