August 12, 1999 10:24 a.m. Hello everyone, Here are a few changes currently happening within GEMS of which all interested parties should be made aware: New Ministry: Social Development and Economic Security The recent cabinet shuffle has resulted in the creation of a new ministry: Social Development and Economic Security. This ministry is comprised of staff who were within: * the former Ministry of Human Resources, and * the Skills Division (formerly within the Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology). Ministry of Human Resources joins Social Development and Economic Security As a result of this re-organization within government, the orgcode "MHR" is now being re-assigned to "SDES". You will notice this change has been made in the GEMS directories for Exchange mailboxes. Subsequently, over the next few weeks all directory entries for those individuals affected, including (the former MHR) Office Vision users, will be updated to reflect this change. Group from Ministry of Advanced Education, Training and Technology (Skills Division) also joining Social Development and Economic Security There are approximately 470 people who formerly worked with for the Ministry of Education, Training and Technology (Skills Division) that are now also part of the new ministry SDES. Their company name and display name will also be updated in their Exchange mailboxes to reflect this change on Monday, Aug.16th. Please Note: Both of the above changes do not affect distribution lists or personal address lists within Exchange, but will affect such lists in MSMail and cc:Mail. For those systems, please ask your users to update their lists when these changes are made in the directories. Legal Services Society Further to our previous communication, sent June 23rd, the Legal Services Society has now completed the migration of their users from cc:Mail to their own Exchange server. Their new addresses are in the form First.Last@lss.bc.ca and will not be shown in GEMS. Their old addresses, in the form First_Last@ho.lss.gov.bc.ca, will be removed from the GEMS directory this Friday, August 13th. Please ask your users to update nicknames to reflect the new address for Legal Services Society people. If you have any questions about these announcements, please contact GEMSHelp at 387-6777 or reply to this e-mail. EOB1 .
