Quaterdeck Office Systems QEMM is a memory management suite for DOS.  
It is an improved replacement for BOTH Microsoft "Himem" and "EMM386".  
QEMM gives DOS Expanded Memory services, eXtended Memory Services, High 
Memory Area services, and Dos Protected Mode Interface services.  It 
also provides tools for relocating TSRs and portions of the DOS Kernel 
into Upper Memory Blocks.  

Most games require a memory manager to provide a "page frame" 
(Expanded Memory Management) and to maximize free Base memory.  It is 
highly recommended that DOS -always- be run in conjunction with QEMM!

Included in this directory is an example of a Config.sys and 
Autoexec.bat file that uses QEMM (note that the examples may actually 
work as-is for many computers).

This version of QEMM was originally bundled with Manifest.  The  
Manifest software is also available on this Gopher server.
