Saxophonist and composer Marco Eneidi is a mature alto voice, strong and
robust, powerful, explosive, yet subtle and sensitive. Eneidi is able to
translate ground-breaking musical directions for the novice while
inspiring the converted to new heights. Through the integration of old
forms and new concepts, his music is reaching out, passionately
capturing the heart of his audience, sharing a vital artistic
experience. Marco grew up in Oakland, California, and studied with Sonny
Simmons. In 1980 he moved to N ew York City and studied with Jimmy
Lyons. In addition to leading his own group, the Marco Eneidi Coalition,
he is also currently a member of the Cecil Taylor Unit and the Raphe
Malik Quintet. Tonight, live from KPFA's Performance Studio, Marco
Eneidi leads a quartet featuring Glenn Spearman on tenor saxophone,
Chris Brown on keyboard, and Donald Robinson on percussion. Producer:
